Ratly Manor

Cassandra came to live with us in October 1999. She was approximately 5 months old. She had been living with her mother in the industrial estate where we work. Sebastian actually drew our attention to the cats. We started feeding them at work. Her mother was a lovely tortoiseshell cat and she soon let me stroke her but the little one (Cassandra) would not even let us look at her. So to feed her I had to walk away and look at the ground. Until one night very late after a few months we went to pick up my car. Cassandra had been coming alone and I had thought that something had happened to her mum. When I went to get in my car, Gina my little dog saw her and they said hello, I called Gina to the car and Cassandra just got in after her. So I got in closed the door and drove home with her sitting quietly on my knee. So that is how she came to live with us. I did eventually get her mother and the Animal Welfare group found a home for her and her kittens that were born shortly after. Cassandra is a very timid but loving cat and does not like many other people. She gets on very well with the 2 dogs and knows she must not touch the rats.
